Visualizing Stimulus

Billions are going to be spent on shovel ready government projects. I assume these have the three necessities of all good projects, i.e. a well defined scope defined in terms of time, quality and price. Each of these could be represented in a separate horizontal line showing total and progress … and placed on the corresponding GPS-location on Google Maps / Google Earth.

As the project progresses, the awarded contractor is given monthly scores based on performance calculated as the delta between where the project should be and where contractor truly is. Obviously, only contractors with positive scores are allowed further stimulus contracts…

Within Google Earth it would be interesting to see each of the three lines; hoping they all come out green, showing projects that are on track, proving the stimulus money is being put to good use.

The point: Modern tools are needed to visualize progress and get the economy back on an accountable track; it does not, however, have to be complicated and there are many relevant, public tools available.
